Other adventures include a tour of the Shanga social enterprise as well as visits to the Museum of Natural History, the Maasai market on Faya Road and the Tanzanite Experience. A game drive in Arusha National Park, accompanied by a delicious picnic lunch, makes for a wonderful outing.
Beneath the soaring peaks of Mount Meru, Arusha’s lush forest-green landscapes and golden plateaus unroll towards the horizon in all directions. A wilderness paradise rich with vegetation, idyllic environments, flourishing ecosystems, and breathtaking landscapes, Arusha is arguably Tanzania’s safari capital.
Tarangire National Park, Kuro Tarangire Lodge
After breakfast, you will be picked up by your safari guide and transfer by road to Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival you will check in at the Kuro Tarangire Lodge. Kuro Tarangire lodge was opened in 2014, and is one of Tanzania’s newest camps and a classic Nomad safari experience. Tucked away in a secluded area of Tarangire National Park, this is a good option for those wanting Nomad’s tried and tested combination of luxury, environmental awareness and great guiding. Six large, light safari rooms made of canvas and thatch with verandahs and in door and outdoor showers and flush loos. Open-sided, airy, grass thatched lounge and dining room furnished with hides, canvas and a touch of colourful textiles. The family tent consists of two en-suite bedrooms.
Boasting sweeping golden pastures and Tanzania’s biggest elephant population, Tarangire National Park is a wilderness paradise you will enter after privately transferring from Arusha Airport. After you arrive at the park, settlements will give way for nature, and emerald landscapes speckled with diverse flora and fauna will unroll beyond you towards the horizon.
Tarangire National Park, notorious for its huge elephant population that increases throughout the dry season, a stay in Tarangire is perfect at the beginning or end of a Northern itinerary for those who enjoy a safari of solitude. The meandering dry Tarangire River is beautiful to drive next to and the baobab studded horizon is perfect for photo opportunities. Buffalo herds number in their hundreds and about ten-percent of the park is also covered by an incredible swamp that attracts an abundance of animals (both prey and predators) during the heat of the day. The variety in landscapes also makes Tarangire is birders paradise, from the open plains to the swamp, there are hundreds of species to tick off here.
Lake Manyara National Park, Lake Manyara Tree Lodge
A morning game drive in Tarangire as the sun rises on the horizon may reveal the early bird hunters, such as lions and leopards, in action, as the feared predators chase down their speedy prey. Afterward, you will pack your bags and make tracks for Lake Manyara National Park. You will check in at the famous Lake Manyara Tree Lodge.
Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, the only lodge inside the park, is located in the south of the Lake Manyara National Park, far away from the bottleneck area of the park. This makes the experience of this relatively small park feel quite remote and quiet. Stylish and luxurious, Lake Manyara Tree Lodge has the best location of any lodge in the area (with a price tag to match), and thanks to clever design it still feels surprisingly connected to its patch of dense forest.
Lake Manyara National Park is best known for the flamboyant flamingos and pouch-mouthed pelicans who find comfort on the tranquil waters of the reserve’s lake of the same name. Home to over 400 species of birds, a birdwatching safari from your camp to the lake will share memorable scenes of these soaring feathered friends.
Lake Manyara National Park offers a true wilderness experience in diverse habitats, from its Rift Valley soda lake to dense woodlands and steep mountainsides.

During the migration, millions of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and other animals begin their journey north with hungry predators hot in their pursuit.
